West End Chess offers chess instruction to individuals and school groups in Richmond's Far West End. We primarily serve those who want to:
- Learn the basics of the game
- Prepare to play in tournaments; OR
- Improve their tournament performance
We offer three programs to suit your needs. Individual lessons are offered on an hourly basis. These lessons offer the most flexibility to accommodate your schedule as well as the best opportunity to target your individual chess goals. Beginning Chess classes are offered to local elementary schools as an after school program each fall and spring. Students are introduced to the game of chess and are taught skills that will lay the groundwork for future tournament chess. Team coaching is available to school teams that want to prepare for tournaments or want to step up to the next level of tournament competition.
