Britta Wolfe

Coach Britta Wolfe has been involved in scholastic chess since 2005.  Though she only learned the game recently and is not an active tournament player, she draws upon her many years of experience in teaching children.

She started the Three Chopt Elementary chess team in 2005 with a group of only seven players.   Since then, the Three Chopt Chess Program has grown to include a Beginning Chess after school program and a competitive team that competes at local, state, and national tournaments.  The Three Chopt Team is currently the strongest K-5 team in the Richmond area and recently won 2nd place in K-5 at the 2008 Virginia Scholastic Chess Championship.

Coach Wolfe and her son, Tip, won 1st place in the Mother/Player section of the Parents and Friends Tournament at the 2007 National Burt Lerner Elementary Championship.

Jeff Wolfe

Jeff Wolfe started playing tournament chess as a high school student.  After a fifteen year absence from tournament play, Mr. Wolfe began coaching his son, Tip, in the game of chess.  Tip played in his first tournament in November 2005 and by December 2006 was listed as a top-100 player for his age by the United States Chess Federation.  Mr. Wolfe has since resumed active tournament play and is currently holds a USCF rating of 1463.

During the 2006-2007 school year, Mr. Wolfe coached the Twin Hickory Elementary chess team.  The team won 2nd place in K-3 at the 2007 Virginia Scholastic Chess Championship and 14th place in K-3 at the 2007 National Burt Lerner Elementary Chess Championship.
