Virginia Scholastic Chess Association The VSCA hosts scholastic tournaments on Saturdays throughout the year. Sections are available for students of all different ages and abilities and everyone is encouraged to come and play. Tournament details and schedules can be found on the VSCA website: www.vschess.org USCF membership required.
West End Chess League Meetings are currently suspended until facilities issues can be resolved. The West End Chess League has been meeting at Twin Hickory Elementary (4700 Twin Hickory Lake Road) on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. Players should arrive by 6:15 pm to be placed in a
group with three other players of similar ability. Every player will
play one thirty minute game against each player in their "quad". This is appropriate for adults and advanced scholastic players (usually rated over 1000). Bring your own equipment. USCF membership not required. Huguenot Chess Quads Meetings are held at Bon Air Library (9103 Rattlesnake Road) on the 1st and 4th Fridays of the month. You do not need to call or register in advance. Simply arrive by 7:00 pm on Fridays, enter through the side door (the Library will be closed so the main doors are locked) and be ready to play three games of chess in a quad. USCF membership not required. Kaissa Chess Club Kaissa offers chess on Thursday nights at two different locations and with two different formats. - Players interested in playing one rated game per week in a tournament that is held over the course of two months should play with the Bon Air Library group. Each week they will play one rated G 70 game against a player with an equivalent record for the ongoing tournament. Please arrive at 6:00 pm so that you may be included in the pairings. Bring your own equipment. USCF membership required.
- Players looking for more casual play should join the Kaissa group at Willow Lawn Mall. Players start arriving around 5:30 pm and they play casual games for several hours. Bring your own equipment. USCF membership not required.
